What we have to be proud of
- Nearly 600,000 students attend Alberta public schools
- Alberta schools are inclusive – they serve a growing number of students with special learning needs, including English language learners and students with various physical and learning disabilities
- Alberta is a recognized leader in teaching with technology
- Officials from other countries routinely visit Alberta to study our education system
- Nationally, Alberta’s 13-year-olds achieved the highest marks in science and placed second in mathematics
- Alberta’s Grade 4 students achieved a top three world ranking in the latest international literacy tests
- Alberta students achieve superior results on international assessments – they scored the highest marks in reading in 2000 and mathematics in 2003, and placed second in the world in science in 2006
